After you get the FTDI drivers loaded for your cable, you need to go into the Windows Device Manager and set the COM port number to match whatever you have set in the EDIABAS config files. There are some text config files for EDIABAS that tell it what COM port to use, etc. This is a communication subsystem that runs in the background and is necessary for the K+D-CAN cable to work. I prefer the BMW AdvancedTools from GitHub ( ) which includes better English translations. NCSExpert/NCS Dummy and WinKFP are part of the BMW standard tools which you can get from BimmerGeeks. You can also program with WinKFP using the cable you have, but it is a bit risky. Use ISTA/P for programming, but only with the ICOM interface (which you don't have). Use NCSExpert along with NCSDummy for coding (configuration changes). It also has built in TIS (maintenance documentation), and wiring diagrams. Everything after that needs a code to work. The latest version that needs no authentication code is 4.32.15. It's a huge download (90gb), but you can find the torrent for it if you go looking. You should get the standalone installer for ISTA+ which is the dealer software.
